Cartoons are having a long history before it came to the present form. Cartoons originated many years ago. It is difficult to tell the actual date of its creation but the time can be assumed. We find many pictures on stones by the early men. Some consider them as cartoons while some do not. To know about the history of cartoons, you first need to know what is called a cartoon. A cartoon is a painting done in an informal way and is more than just a painting. The cartoons have a message or humor hidden in it. Political leaders like Martin Luther king, published cartoons in large numbers which were mostly caricatures. These caricatures were of other political leaders. The caricatures were humorous. They created humor with short stories which are known to the common people. Such caricature cartoons are very simple for common man to understand easily. Apart from politics, many social leaders create cartoons which are satire and use them to hit the conscience of common people. These cartoons make people realize the faults in them and the society. In this way, social workers use cartoons to change the social scenario. The history of cartoons has such caricatures and satires for long duration. An important part of the history of cartoons is humorous cartoons. These cartoons are purely for the humor of the common people. The topic of the cartoon may be related to politics but the intension is to make people laugh.

The recent development in the history of cartoons

In the recent history of cartoons, in the nineties, we have seen large transformation. In the mid-nineties, the first animated cartoon was made. People are no longer getting interested in the stationary cartoons. So after the invention of computer, the cartoonists got a chance to make animated cartoons. The animated piece of film got huge popularity. People began making animated cartoons in large number with computers. In the eighties, with the introduction of first image editing software, adobe Photoshop, cartoonists got better scopes. But all these cartoons in the entire history of cartoons were in two dimensions. With improvement of technology, people expected more from the cartoon industry. It was in the late nineties, that a three dimensional film was made with cartoon characters. The toy story was the film which was released in 1995. This film was produced by Disney and was the first animated three dimensional films. After this achievement, in the present time, lots of three dimensional animated films are being released. This is the latest technology in the history of cartoons. Better technologies will make more development of cartoons in the future.
