We watch a lot of movies; a lot of the films have a proper story, maybe some action, love and a Based on a True Story”, and we all get excited by reading that line. We go and watch with interest in anticipation to watch some stud who survived it all. But there are a few movies out there which are a complete rubbish. The story is a lot different from what actually happened in reality. This article talks about such movies.superhero thrown in. But at times few movies are thrown on us tagged as “
Let’s start off with Rudy, in which there was a football player who had one and only goal to play for Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was not selected in the team cause of people in his support system who constantly pointed out his flaws. However Rudy got inspired by a sudden accident of his friend back home (God only knows the reason). His only obstacle was his coach Devine who did not want him to play in the team but he somehow got a chance to play when his teammates threatened to walk out. In reality the coach (Dan Devine) was the one who wanted to play Rudy in the final game. Permission was also taken from Devine in order to portray him as the villain. And it was Rudy himself who spent years convincing film makers to make a film on his story which he considered to be awesome.the film
Another such movie is “21”; story is about a young MIT student who is a genius in math, apparently he catches attention of a professor who recruits him into his blackjack team. They play illegal using the old technique of card counting. As expected things go wrong and not as planned and our hero (Ben Campbell) gets caught and gets a severe thrashing from Cowboy Curtis to learn some harsh lessons. Well in reality the complete team was Asian, but however Hollywood did not find it important to give some Asian guy a lead role. Even the professor was Asian who sneaked into casinos in different outfits. However they did add two Asians as sidekicks who were supposed to be some losers while the white guys were portrayed as brilliants.
And finally “The pursuit of Happiness” which had a hard working man with an irritating wife and a cute son. Somehow Chris Gardner records a fastest time in solving a Rubik’s cube impressing Dean Witter and becomes a stock broker. He works hard for months with his son and himself sleeping in subways and in the end all of it pays off. Well in reality Gardner did not show his stuff at the Dean Witter training program as he was not given a chance and it had nothing to do with the Rubik’s cube. He was very busy in getting work and to somehow earn money that he actually had no idea about where his son was for the first 4 months, but in the film he was shown as an excellent father. During those four months the boy was actually living with his mom (Jackie). And also he was not arrested cause of parking tickets rather because his wife had lodged a complaint on him in reference to violence. All in all the film script was edited to suit the audience.
So guys if you go for a movie thinking that you will be witnessing a true story then think again cause there a few films whose scripts are edited to suit the audiences.
